![]() Woodridge School District 68’s Strategic Goal for further developing a comprehensive plan to assure that students will achieve their social emotional and academic potential, necessitates the development of an Academic Transformation Plan which will serve as the focus for District activities during the next several years. In order to do this the following questions were explored and considered. Each link provides you with more information on each topic. • What are the Common Core Standards? http://www.isbe.net/common_core/ • What are the College and Career Readiness Standards? http://www.nc4ea.org/index.cfm/e/areas_of_focus.goals_standards • What are the 21st Century Learning skills? With this research in mind our goal becomes the following: To raise the bar in all grades to ensure that our students are receiving a relevant and rigorous education focused on developing the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the demands of college and/or the work place in the 21st century. We expect to keep our focus by gauging our growth in the areas of exceeding standards, reading above grade level, technology integration, engaged educational minutes, the Explore test and social, emotional growth. There will be work done on developing common assessments as well. Some of the activities that the district will be involved in over the next five years include enhanced Gifted programming, new ELL Programming, development of new Math curriculum, Standards Based Report Card development and piloting, enhanced Integration of technology into the classroom, Tentative development of Common Core Social Studies and Science Curriculum, new computer driven assessments for Common Core Standards to replace ISAT, fully functioning data teams at JJHS and PLCs in the elementary schools and a new teacher evaluation process in place. |
